Nestled in the quiet charm of Thirlmere, this café offers a relaxed spot to enjoy a variety of meals throughout the day, from breakfast and brunch to lunch and dinner. People often come here for hearty chicken options—like the double decker chicken burger or the Portuguese chicken burger—and also appreciate the range of halal and vegetarian dishes on offer. The menu extends beyond burgers, featuring fresh salads, satisfying breakfast rolls, and light options like toasted breads with assorted spreads.
The vibe is laid-back, especially appealing on warmer days when the outdoor seating area invites diners to unwind in a garden-like setting. It’s a place where locals bring their families and dogs, enjoying a meal at their own pace, often accompanied by well-crafted coffee or chai lattes from the coffee bar. Service can sometimes lean towards slow, but the food and atmosphere tend to encourage lingering over a relaxed meal rather than rushing through it.
This café suits a range of diners—from families looking for a filling breakfast or brunch spot, to friends catching up over lunch, and anyone who enjoys a slightly slower, calm dining experience surrounded by greenery. Practicalities like free street parking and accepting reservations make it an accessible choice when exploring the area around Oaks Street in Thirlmere.

5 We had the classic beef burger & grilled chicken burger and they were absolutely delicious. The service was amazing. Very friendly. Will definitely be dining in here again.
5 This is definitely worth a stop, but be prepared to wait, extremely slooowww service, but Amazing food, from roasts to chicken. They just don't do fish and chips which is a shame. Coffee Bar and gorgeous outdoor seating area. You will not be disappointed
5 Really good pancakes. Reminiscent of the mcondalds hotcakes, soft and fluffy! The big breakfast was very filling. Good job.
4 Oh my goodness! Breakfast in the beautiful garden here at Off The Rail, with my squeeze and our puppy is a way to start the day. The coffee was perfect (not burnt), and our breakfast - well pictures tell the story. Talk about great value ! Now the weather is warming up, come here to start your day.
5 Had a great meal with a friend outside in the gardens. We had the Off the rail hash with poached eggs and another large breakfast to split. Coffee and tea were both very good.
4 De ent serve of chips freshly cooked. Portuguese burger a little sparse on contents. Decent bun.
